Common appearance defects of crates include product dents, burrs, poor welding, etc., which result in a high defect rate.

-Product Dents

Reason: Insufficient feeding amount, improper gate position; Uneven wall thickness or thinness of the product can easily cause dents on the back of thick walls; The injection pressure is too low, and the injection, holding, and cooling times are set too short; Plastic overheating, mold temperature too high; The material temperature is too low or the plasticization is poor.

Solution: Add material or open the gate of the discharge port; Increase the number of diversion channels and enlarge the gate size; Restrict the inflow of all materials; Adjust and increase injection pressure to accelerate injection speed; Extend injection, holding pressure, and cooling time; Reduce the temperature of the material barrel and mold.

-Flying Edge

Reason: The projected area of the product exceeds the maximum area allowed by the injection molding machine; Mold installation error, poor mold fit; The template of the injection molding machine is not parallel; The fluidity of plastic is too high, and the amount of material added is too large; The cavity temperature is too high, and the mold temperature is too high; The injection pressure is too high; The speed is too fast; The locking pressure is unstable.

Solution: Choose a larger injection molding machine; Reinstall the mold according to the correct method; Clean or polish the edges of the mold; Check if the parting surface of the mold is clean; Control the feeding amount within an appropriate range; Adjust the temperature of the material barrel and mold again; Reduce the pressure and speed of injection.

-Poor Dissolution

Reason: Improper gate and runner settings; The material temperature or mold temperature is too low; Poor fluidity of plastics; There are impurities such as moisture or lubricants inside the mold; The injection pressure is too low or the injection speed is slow; Poor product molding and uneven wall thickness; Improper design of mold cooling system.

Solution: Redesign the gate; Increase the material temperature or mold temperature; Prevent the addition of cold materials; Wipe dry the inner wall of the mold; Increase injection pressure or injection speed; Improve product design; Check the cooling system and redesign it if necessary.

-Product deformation

Reasons: Uneven plasticization and melting of raw materials, excessive or insufficient material filling; improper gate setting, no symmetry; insufficient mold strength, low steel quality, and easy deformation; improper demolding mechanism setting, product pulling; material temperature and mold temperature are too low, nozzle diameter is too small, shear stress is large; material temperature and mold temperature are high, filling effect is large, residual stress is large,; product thickness is uneven; not fully cooled.

Solution: Adjust the screw position, reduce material feeding, reduce injection pressure; reset the gate or control the gate flow speed; check the positioning reference; reset the demolding mechanism; increase the barrel temperature and mold temperature, reduce the injection pressure; reduce the barrel temperature or mold temperature to prevent excessive residual stress; check whether the mold is heated evenly and modify the wall thickness; increase the cooling time parameter setting value and adjust others; extend the cooling time.

-Dimensional deviation

Reason: The processing accuracy of the crate mold is not enough, there are errors in the cavity and core, etc.; the shrinkage rate is not preset in advance; the injection molding process and parameters are improperly adjusted.

Solution: Re-trim the mold, adjust the core and cavity, improve the processing accuracy, and reset the parameters, such as temperature, time, and pressure.

The solution to Quality Defects in Crate Mold Processing

During the processing of crate molds, the product may have defects such as cracks and silver streaks, which seriously affect the quality of use.

-Cracks

Reasons: impure plastic raw materials, impurities or insufficient drying; a large proportion of return materials; improper design of demoulding mechanism, easy to produce stress concentration, poor ejection; injection pressure is too low; injection speed is too slow; injection and holding time is too short; improper cooling system setting.

Solution: Check whether the plastic used has contamination or debris, and fully dry it; control the proportion of return material; eliminate small and sharp mouth design; adjust mold temperature; increase injection pressure and speed; increase injection and holding time; reasonably adjust cooling time.

-Silver streaks

Reasons: improper plastic raw material ingredients or impurities; plastic is not fully dried, and there is a small amount of moisture or air mixed in the plastic; poor mold exhaust; mold temperature is too low; injection pressure is low; injection time is too short; material temperature is too high.

Solution: strictly control the plastic formula and proportion; dry the plastic before processing; reduce the temperature of the rear section of the barrel or increase the temperature of the front section; make the gate symmetrical; wipe off the moisture and impurities on the mold surface; increase the injection and holding time.
